Toyota Industries Engine India Inaugurates New Engine Production Plant in Bengaluru

Toyota Industries Engine India (TIEI), a joint venture between Kirloskar Systems Ltd. (KSL) and Toyota Industries Corporation - Japan (TICO has inaugurated a new engine production plant at Jigani Industrial Area, Bengaluru to manufacture Global Diesel (GD) engine. The plant will be manufacturing the 2.8-lt and 2.4-lt diesel engines that power the new Toyota Innova Crysta.


The engines manufactured at the plant will feature Economy with Superior Thermal Efficiency Combustion (ESTEC) technology and will be more fuel efficient. The plant has an annual capacity to manufacture 1,08,000 units. The engines manufactured will be BS-IV compliant however the company says that it has the provisions to upgrade the plant to make BS-V and BS-VI spec engines as well.
