GM India Mulling Over Selling Halol Facility

GM India’s assembly plant in Halol will be manufacturing the updated Chevrolet Tavera however the company is eyeing to sell off the plant. While the plant will remain operational till March 2017 and will continue to manufacture the Tavera, GM is contemplating at selling the plant off and considering contract manufacturing of Tavera as an option.

 

The company plans to consolidate production at its Talegaon facility. In a statement released by the company, GM India President and MD, Kaher Kazem confirmed that the company is exploring a number of options in relation to the Halol site, including its sale.

This news comes on the sidelines of GM India’s recent announcement of launching 5 new cars in the next 2 years. The new cars will include the new Cruze, the Beat and Chevrolet’s Beat based sub-4m sedan, the Essentia.
