Aprilia SR 150, the Italian performance bike maker’s first made-in-India scooter is set to reach showrooms soon. The SR 150, priced at Rs 65,000 will be powered by a 150cc engine shared with Piaggio’s Vespa scooter and will be retailed from Piaggio’s dealerships throughout the nation. The made-in-India scooter will be manufactured at Piaggio’s Baramati plant and will also be available for booking at online e-commerce portal Paytm.com.
The SR 150 was first showcased at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo while prices were announced recently. Aprilia says that the SR 150’s design is inspired by the RSV 4 1000 RF Factory and its steel frame structure will ensure rigidity and nippy handling. The SR 150 will ride on 14” wheels with 120/70 section front and rear tyres. The seating of the scooter is good for medium and tall riders with a seat height of 775mm. The scooter will get a 220mm front disc brake and a 170mm rear drum brake.
The SR 150 will be available in 2 colour options, matte black and white and is targeted at young riders.

“With the roll out of the Aprilia SR 150, it is indeed a proud moment for us here at the Piaggio group. The first India made Aprilia only reiterates our India commitment. The SR 150 is a one of its kind from the Aprilia stable, especially since this bike is customized for the Indian market and produced locally. The crossover segment in India is in its nascent stage and we are yet to see its full potential; with the Aprilia SR 150 we aim to capitalize on this opportunity. Aprilia worldwide is known for its racing heritage and we have packed some of the superbikes abilities like performance and handling in this compact SR 150.”
