Car Sizzler Upcoming Car Upcoming Car in CarSizzler Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Mitsubishi is planning to launch an automatic version of the Pajero Sport in the sub-continent to boost its sales. Preferred by many for its ruggedness and butch charm, the Pajero Sport has been doing fairly well compared to the other cars from the Japanese manufacturer.   The Pajero Sport gets a 5-Speed automatic transmission with the same engine (the one in the Indian Pajero Sport) in Thailand and Mitsubishi is expected to bring the same engine-transmission combination to India. The company has announced that the automatic Pajero Sport is scheduled to be manufactured at Hindustan Motors’ Tiruvallur facility near Chennai.   The company has further cleared that the automatic version of the Pajero Sport will hit the Indian market in autumn. Interestingly, the other major player in the segment, Toyota Fortuner has been doing exceptionally well with the automatic version of the Fortuner. In fact, Toyota’s focus on selling the automatic version can be realized from Toyota’s dealerships that command a greater waiting period for the manual 2WD version than the automatic version. Hyundai Grand i10 Sedan - Expected Pricing, Features, Engines and Dimensions Taking into account the Grand i10’s grand entry into the Indian market, the Grand i10 based sedan is obviously the next thing on Hyundai’s anvil. And recent reports and spy-shots by the Indian media clears any doubt if it was ever there that the sedan version of the Grand i10 is coming soon. So, what all do we expect from the Grand i10 sedan? Let’s contemplate..     EXTERIORS   DIMENSIONS – Let us first see the exterior dimensions of the Hyundai Grand i10.   Hyundai Grand i10 : L x W x H – 3765 x 1660 x 1520   Hyundai Grand i10 Sedan : Expected L x W x H – (3990-3995) x 1660 x (1525-1535)   Hyundai Grand i10 sedan will be under the 4 meter in length (the stubby boot in some of the spy pics also indicate that) to get benefited from the excise duties and we expect the its length to be in between 3990mm - 3995mm. Maruti Suzuki Dzire is 3995mm in length and Honda Amaze is 3990mm in length, and these will be the two prime competitors of the Hyundai Grand i10 sedan when it is launched in India.   Since other manufacturers have not increased/decreased the sedan versions of their hatches in width, we expect Hyundai will also not play with it. So, the width of the Grand i10’s sedan version might remain same as the hatchback’s.   Considering the fact other manufacturers have revised the height of their cars (sedan versions of hatchbacks) and have increased it by some margin or the other (though ground clearance has remained the same), we expect that the Grand i10 sedan will therefore be taller than its hatchback version (maybe its got to do with an increase in roof height to accommodate an increase in length). While Amaze is 5mm taller than Brio, Maruti Suzuki Dzire is a whole 25mm taller than Swift!     WHEELBASE   Hyundai Grand i10 : 2425mm (We believe it will remain same for the sedan)   While Maruti Suzuki has refrained from increasing the wheelbase of the Swift Dzire from the Swift while Honda has increased it for the Amaze (than Brio), we don’t think Hyundai will have to increase the wheelbase to accommodate the sedan’s dimensions. While Dzire’s wheelbase is 2430mm, Amaze’s is 2405mm. And the Grand i10’s wheelbase is 2425mm which is already in the Amaze-Dzire territory, in fact, its already more than Amaze’s.     ENGINE   Hyundai Grand i10   Petrol: 1.2 Kappa VTVT, 4 cylinder, 83PS, 114Nm   Diesel: 1.1 U2 CRDi, 3 cylinder, 71PS, 160Nm     Hyundai i20   Diesel: 1.4 U2 CRDi, 4 cylinder, 90PS, 220Nm   As far as petrol engine is concerned, we believe Hyundai will go with the same 1.2-lt Kappa VTVT unit that powers the Grand i10. However, if competition is taken into account, Hyundai is most likely to use Hyundai i20’s 1.4-lt CRDi diesel engine to power the Grand i10 sedan in India. There are 3 major reasons for it:   1 – It falls in the territory of Amaze’s and Dzire’s diesel engines for output and will still fall under excise benefits.   2 - The 1.1-lt CRDi unit used in the Grand i10 hatchback is small considering the fact that it’ll have to carry more weight.   3 – Why equip a hatchback (Hyundai i20) with a more powerful engine at a similar price.   4 – This might also give the Grand i10 sedan an edge in this segment as it might get a 6-speed manual transmission mated to the 1.4-lt diesel engine (same as in i20)     VARIANTS   Hyundai might follow the same nomenclature in the sedan version of the Grand i10 though there are a few talks that Hyundai might give the ‘Accent’ nameplate to the sedan version of the Grand i10. Still we believe that there’ll be all the variants on offer. The Grand i10 comes in 4 trim levels, Era, Magna, Sportz and Asta and at launch, we think the Grand i10 sedan will also get these 4 trims.     EQUIPMENT & LOADING   Hyundai has always managed to equip its cars with the maximum that they can afford to and the Grand i10 is also loaded well. We expect Hyundai to equip the Grand i10 sedan similarly in all trims.     PRICING – Expected (ex-showroom prices based on’s internal calculations)     Petrol variants   Grand i10 sedan Era – Rs. 5.10 lakhs   Grand i10 sedan Magna – Rs. 5.35 lakhs   Grand i10 sedan Sportz – Rs. 5.90 lakhs   Grand i10 sedan Asta – Rs. 6.17 lakhs   Grand i10 sedan Asta AT – Rs. 6.90 lakhs   Grand i10 sedan Asta (O) – 6.55 lakhs     Diesel variants   Grand i10 sedan Era – Rs. 6.08 lakhs   Grand i10 sedan Magna – Rs. 6.33 lakhs   Grand i10 sedan Sportz – Rs. 6.90 lakhs   Grand i10 sedan Asta – Rs. 7.16 lakhs   Grand i10 sedan Asta AT – Rs. 7.88 lakhs   Grand i10 sedan Asta (O) – 7.51 lakhs     Source of the spy shot used above : IndianAutosBlog Honda Vezel - Civic's Price, CR-V's Fun. Will it come to India? Honda has launched the Honda Vezel – a crossover based on 2014 Honda Jazz’s platform in Japan and the Vezel has been priced there at Rs.11.14 lakhs (1.87 million Yen) for the base Honda Vezel 2WD. A 4WD variant of the Vezel is also available ar Rs.12.39 lakhs (2.08 million Yen).   The Honda Vezel is powered by a 1.5-lt, 4-cylinder petrol engine mated to an automatic transmission with paddle shifters. While the Honda Vezel also gets a hybrid variant in Japan, we’re doubtful if it’ll ever see daylight in India. The 1.5-lt petrol engine produces 131PS and 155Nm torque (Japan model) and in the Japanese driving cycle, it returns 20.6 kmpl for the 2WD and 19 kmpl for the 4WD variant.   Considering the fact that Honda now has a diesel motor up its sleeve (the 1.5-lt unit that does duty on the Amaze and will soon be available under the 2014 Honda City’s hood), it is expected that the Honda Vezel might as well get the same 1.5-lt diesel engine for the Indian market.   Exteriors of the Honda Vezel – On the outside, the Vezel gets certain elements that look inspired from the new CR-V. Take for example the black plastic cladding that runs on all four sides of the vehicle and makes it look rugged and masculine. Upfront, elements like the thick front grille, wide wraparound headlamps and a big front bumper give the Vezel an imposing appearance, it helps since it looks like a full blown SUV.   A look at it from the side and you instantly get crossover cues. Upto the B pillar, the Vezel looks SUV-like however, B pillar onwards, the roofline starts sloping dramatically. Noticeable is the Chevrolet Beat type door handles integrated in the C pillar that make the overall appearance look like the Vezel is a 3-door crossover. While the overhang at the rear is minimal, it suggests that the rear passenger will be seated just over the rear wheels, but take a closer look at the boot and you instantly notice that the rear bench lies ahead of the rear axle. The size of the doors looks adequately big and going by Honda’s MMMM (Man Max, M/c Min) philosophy, it is expected that the Vezel will be aptly roomy on the inside.   Rear of the Vezel is possibly the most dramatic angle to look at. Two part tail lamps with large indicators and a wave that runs across the rear hatch are catchy. CR-V like plastic cladding at the bottom gives it a UV-appeal. Considering that Vezel is a crossover, the rear glass looks aptly big.   Interiors of the Honda Vezel – First look at the dashboard and you know that the interiors look better than the big brother CR-V! While the steering wheel and driver-info display look traditionally Honda, the center console and passenger side AC vents look attractive. After the Honda Civic, the Vezel possibly looks like the only other Honda that gets so inviting interiors. Passenger side AC vents placed as a single unit gets 3 air-deflection controls. What’s good to see is the driver-side inclined central fascia hinting at driver-oriented interiors. It is nice to see Honda playing with shiny piano-black finish and chrome to adorn the insides.   The rear of the Vezel looks roomy with enough knee and leg room though headroom looks a little compromised. Near flat (there’s a hump though) transmission tunnel and 3 headrests hint at adequate space for a 3rd passenger though City-like center-seat (a little lifted) for the third passenger will make it tough for him/her to sit comfortably. The seat-back angle for the rear bench looks too upright (to make the boot roomy) and might not be to everyone’s liking.   Matter of thought – The Indian automobile market still has enough space for a UV in the Rs.10.00-Rs.18.00 lakhs price bracket. Yes, there’s the XUV5OO, Aria, Duster and Terrano, but none of these are premium enough to attract someone who wants to upgrade from a C-segment sedan. Now that Honda has also discontinued the Civic in India, there is a void in between the City and CR-V to fill (Accord has also discotinued) and the Vezel looks like a perfect vehicle to complete Honda’s portfolio. With the diesel engine, priced around Rs.13 lakhs, the Vezel can completely eat sales of not only the smaller C segment cars, but also the entry level D segment cars like the Altis and Octavia apart from making a dent in the sales of above mentioned SUVs. Jeep Wrangler Jeep Wrangler is one of the best SUVs in the world. A true 4x4 vehicle it will take you anywhere you want to go on land. Audi TT Roadster While the re-freshened Audi TT coupe was launched some time back this year, it was evident that soon there will be the roadster version following it. The TT roadster has a cloth top or a soft top as it is called.  It opens in 12 seconds, even while driving at a speed of up to 50 km/h which is neat. For further safety the two massive rollover bars protect the driver and passenger in the event of a rollover.     Looks   The design is timeless The fog lights are set in chrome rings. Also sporting a new look are new single-frame grille in high-gloss black and the optional xenon plus headlights. It also has twelve white LEDs arranged in a straight line which act as the daytime running lights. The 2.0 TFSI has a dual exhaust which is neat.       Interior   The interior looks stylish with the steering wheel is flattened at the bottom. It has five round air vents and  the typical round-dial instruments have the classic TT look.         Occupant Safety Every TT Roadster model is outfitted with dual front, side and knee airbags along with traction and stability control systems and electronic brake-pressure distribution.       Technical Specification   The TT roadster will have a 2.0 TFSI petrol just like its coupe brother. It makes 211 bhp and perfectly suits the car.  It also has a six-speed S tronic and the famous Audi quattro permanent all-wheel drive. The time from zero to 100 km/h takes 5.6 seconds. The handling and grip are great and coupled with the open top feeling, its just brilliant. The TT roadster will compete with the BMW Z4, Merc SLK and Porche Boxster.    Toyota Corolla Altis The new Toyota Corolla brings many exciting new features and a comprehensively updated new exterior design. The front end has plenty of chrome on its slated grille and the sporty styled twin pot headlamps are swept back adding to the aerodynamic looks of the car. It has a prominent belt line that goes all the way to the back. The elegant alloy wheels give the car an exciting road presence.     The latest version of the Toyota Corolla offers luxurious ride and exciting design. It is expected to be priced slightly higher than the pricing for the current variant. This is due to the rising inflation and input costs for Toyota in India. Nevertheless the pricing will be very competitve and on par with that of its rivals from its segment. Skoda New Yeti Skoda has done a great job with the new Yeti and it brings many excellent features. It was recently unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show and is expected to be coming our way in the next few months.     The new Yeti looks bolder than ever before. The facelifted front end looks more radical and sportier than its predecessor. The chromed grille has vertical slats and the rectangular headlamps bring optional bi-xenon and LED day time running lamps. The rear has been well executed and features a c-pattern wrap around tail lamp and twin exhausts along with a revamped tail gate. The new Yeti brings new alloy wheel and exterior color options.     The interiors also bring many new features such as powerful music system, improved seat fabric and interior trims. It has an automatic parallel parking system and a rear-view camera. It is expected to come with the same Diesel and Engine configuration but it might include the 2.0 litre TDI 168 BHP diesel engine in a six speed dual clutch DSG Automatic Transmission. The 103 bhp 1.6 liter Petrol Engine may come with a DSG Automatic Transmission. While the familiar S, SE and Elegance trims remain, you must now also choose whether you want the standard Yeti or the rugged-looking Yeti Outdoor – which doesn’t cost anything extra but gets contrasting black rubbing strips on the doors and a mildly different bumper design. You have to go for the Outdoor if you want four-wheel drive or any of the higher-powered engines. - See more at: While the familiar S, SE and Elegance trims remain, you must now also choose whether you want the standard Yeti or the rugged-looking Yeti Outdoor – which doesn’t cost anything extra but gets contrasting black rubbing strips on the doors and a mildly different bumper design. Though all that can change when the facelifted A-Star arrives in India and as you can see that it is now much better looking. The A-Star is actually the new generation Alto but called as A-Star in India because the earlier Alto is also being sold. The new look is much more modern and gone ar the old round bulging headlamps and in comes a much sharper looking headlamp.     Not just the headlamps though as the bigger grille now looks much better with a single chrome bar and the front bumpers also are completely new. These changes have completely transformed the A-Star. While the rear styling at first might look similar its not and the two tone effect really livens up the rear and the new tail-lamps add to a much nicer look.     The real picture of European design of Maruti A-Star becomes vivid when you open the door of the car and enter in the cabin, it has neatly designed dashboard with clear instrumentation. Maruti gave A-star a minor facelift in 2012 in which the interiors of A-Star were spiced up. The new dua l ‘grey and beige’ interiors blend well with rich beige upholstery . Facelifted Volvo S60 India is the current hot-bed for luxury carmakers, especially the entry-level segment. The same has seen humongous makeovers and new launches in the last 6-8 months and another revision is round the corner. This time around, the manufacturer is Volvo, and the car is S60.   Entry-level sedan S60 is getting a mild facelift and will be launched on 17th October, 2013 in India. The new S60 does away with the partitioned daytime running lamps, gets new bumpers and new rear LED lights. Silver contrast ORVMs might be another update on the S60 that makes the car look sportier.   While Indian edition of the S60 might get beige upholstery as an option, it’s the driver’s display and speedometer that gets a major uplift. While sticking to the blue backlight, Volvo has given up the orthodox separate meters and have instead given a large center dial for the speedometer surrounded on the sides by the rev counter and temperature display. The S60 might also get paddle shifts, though rest of the interior might remain constant.   New Interiors of the Facelifted S60     Interiors of the current Volvo S60   Competing with the S60, the Mercedes Benz C Class and Audi A4 received minor touch-ups sometime back while the BMW 3 Series’ new generation was introduced last year. Pricing remains crucial but the way Volvo has been working on the designing of their cars, it has become hard to let them go unnoticed.   Current Volvo S60 2014 S Class The 2014 Mercedes- Benz S Class is likely to be powered by 3.5-litre V6 petrol unit with a 20kW electric motor for an overall output of 321bhp and a seven-speed automatic gearbox. And the same is expected to come in the Indian version of Renault Lodgy as well and the top of the line variants of the MPV are likely to be powered by the K9k engine with maximum power of 110PS.   The exterior of the Renault Lodgy gets designed front grille with chrome strip with sleeker head lights and stylish bumper. The vehicle gets body colored door handles and ORVMs as well. It also gets alloy wheels differently designed as compared to the Dacia Lodgy. However, the overall designing and look of the Renault Lodgy is the same as that of Dacia Lodgy. Rear is especially stylish for our liking with bulging tail-lamps that express a roomy cabin (something that India should like as well).   The interior of the Renault Lodgy is the same as that of the Dacia Lodgy and the only difference is the Renault logo on the steering wheel. The Lodgy gets a black and beige cabin, that might get revamped to a beige and grey tone for India, keeping the Indian taste in mind. The seven-seater MPV should offer good interior space, convenient and optimal ergonomic seats, MediaNAV touch screen 7-inch (18 cm) with satellite navigation, radio RDS, 3.5 mm jack, USB connector for audio and music playback, and the ability to use a mobile phone as a hands-free via Bluetooth.   The safety features of the car include ABS system with emergency brake assist, 4 airbags (two front and two front side), ISOFIX system on the second row of seats, rear parking sensors, a limiter speed, ESP (Electronic Stability Control).   The Renault Lodgy is expected to be launched in India by mid 2014 and should go on sale in early 2015. The bookings for the car has been started and with 'BMW Service Inclusive Plus' package free of cost for the first 100 customers. The car will be assembled at the Chennai plant of BMW. Octavia Skoda recently updated the Octavia globally and the new generation looks modern both inside and out with characteristic Germanic traits of a Skoda. This is the third generation of the Octavia and is based on Skoda's Vision D concept that might as well inspire more cars from Skoda. The new Octavia gets a lot of traits from other cars in the Skoda family, like the Rapid. It is expected that the Octavia will come to India by the end of 2013 or early 2014.   The new Octavia is now longer and wider than the outgoing generation and also gets a larger wheelbase thereby increasing the cabin size. Use of modern technology and components have however allowed Skoda to decrease the weight of the car and make it lighter than before. The new octavia looks sharper than the previous one with the tail being reminiscent of the current Rapid in India. Some of the new features that the Octavia sports are Adaptive Cruise Contol, Park Assist, Panoramic Sunroof and Keyless Entry.   Skoda is expected to launch the new octavia with a 1.4l Petrol engine (similar to the Jetta) and a 2.0l diesel engine. The new Octavia is also expected to replace the current Laura and therefore should be priced around Rs.12 - 17 lakhs.
